Filming & Photography at Port Tampa Bay

Companies or individuals wishing to film or photograph within the Port Tampa Bay complex for commercial purposes are required to apply for permits from both Film Tampa Bay and the port. This page is an online resource for designed to help organizations, companies and individuals expedite the process for application.

The Port Tampa Bay is a working seaport with thousands of tons of cargo moving across its docks and through its terminals every day. Commercial filming and events are important contributors to the state and local economy and the Port recognizes the desire of video production companies and commercial photographers to depict aspects of a working seaport environment.  Port Tampa Bay staff is available to accommodate requests in this area while preserving the Port's primary objectives: to facilitate goods movement, build and maintain world class facilities, and provide a safe and secure port complex. Port Tampa Bay appreciates your cooperation and patience and the adherence to its required process and timetable for requests.

Planning/Timetable

All filming or Photography on port property requires pre-approval from Port Tampa Bay. Please contact the Port Tampa Bay at least 5 weeks prior to finalizing any filming activities at the Port.

Business hours are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 pm Friday; closed on weekends and Hillsborough Co. holidays.

Fees
Port Tampa Bay will assess fees on all Port properties including those leased by outside entities. Rates/Fees are determined on a case by case basis depending upon desired access or exact locations (wharf/waterside for example, available warehouses access, etc.), and the need for different insurance coverages and agreement priviledges. The rates/fees are *base charges per location (except stills), per day for uses such as: prep, strike, filming, crew parking, basecamp, and still photos. Additional fees may be assessed if services from other Port departments are required, such as security or maintenance crews. If filming involves ships, barges, tugs, etc., daily dockage could also be assessed per Tampa Port Authority Terminal Tariff No. 13

Video: Full Day $1,250Photography: full day $750 - half day $400 

Permits
A Film Tampa Bay permit, approved by Port Tampa Bay, is required before filming can begin. Additional permits may be required depending on filming activities and locations within the Port particularly those involving depiction of select third party owned ships, barges, tugs, facilities, etc.

Scouting
Please contact Port Tampa Bay Brand Development & Strategic Alliances to arrange scouting out locations at Port Tampa Bay at least 3 days prior to desired scout day.

Insurance
Insurance is required for all filming activities at Port Tampa Bay and must be approved prior to the start of filming. For requirements or coverages that may be required for your video production/photography, please contact Port Tampa Bay at least 5 weeks prior to the desired film activity date.
