In the first half of 2016, Port Tampa Bay took delivery of, and installed 2 new state-of-the-art post-Panamax cranes, augmenting its three existing cranes and enabling the Port to handle vessels up to 9,000 TEU capacity. Together with terminal operator partner Ports America, Port Tampa Bay has plans to quadruple the size of its capacity from 40 acres (16 hectares) to 160 acres (64 hectares) and expand its berth length from 3,000 ft. (915 meters) to 4,000 ft. (1220 meters).
