Port Tampa Bay
Jun 12 2018
- The Glory, a vessel packed with local donations to aid victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, left Port Tampa Bay on the afternoon of June 12th, 2018. The Glory had been docked at the port's cold storage facility, Port Logistics Refrigerated Services or "PLRS". There, volunteers stocked more donations onboard - including hundreds of mattresses, building and medical supplies. PLRS donated its equipment, berth, and support. A.R. Savage & Son coordinated logistics, and Port Tampa Bay waived all dockage and wharfage fees.
That was the Glory's second visit to Port Tampa Bay. The Glory is supported by Good Samaritan Shipping Ministries - run by Shawna & James Downs. They live on the Glory with their three children, delivering disaster relief to areas most in need. Since Hurricane Maria hit, they have focused all their efforts in Puerto Rico.
