The Glory Returns to Port Tampa Bay Briefly Before Heading Back to Puerto Rico

- The vessel Glory is back at Port Tampa Bay after a nearly two month journey, delivering local Tampa Bay area supplies to Puerto Rico. After arriving in Tampa, the Glory was once again loaded with donations, including hundreds of mattresses at Port Tampa Bay's cold storage facility, Port Logistics Refrigerated Services. Other supplies including medical supplies and building materials have been loaded on containers and stacked on the Glory for its journey back to Puerto Rico at the end of the week.

To honor the Shawna and James Downs family, who live on the Glory, and have been delivering donations to the suffering island since Hurricane Maria tore through, local charities, friends, and the community were invited to attend a dinner to celebrate their ministry. The event was open to the media and public.

Thousands of gallons of fuel are still needed for their journey to and back from Puerto Rico to deliver the donations. Organizers are hoping for donated fuel or donations to purchase it while in Tampa.

Many organizations donated equipment, security, space and fees including Port Logistics Refrigerated Services (cold storage facility (where the Glory docked), A.R. Savage & Son, and Port Tampa Bay which waived all wharfage and dockage fees. For more information about the effort, please contact Rafael Gaztambide at 813-217-1112.
