Port Tampa Bay Wins Public Relations Award for Channel District Plan Community/Press Event

- TAMPA, Fla.—Port Tampa Bay has been recognized with a “PRestige Award” by the Tampa Bay chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) at its second annual awards luncheon, October 28, at the Marriott Westshore Hotel.

The award was presented to Port Tampa Bay for its community outreach and press event to unveil the port’s long-term vision for the Channel District, which includes broad redevelopment of waterfront land in the Channel District, adjacent to Tampa’s downtown core. The August 2015 event brought together community and economic development leaders and elected officials, as well as every major local media outlet, for the highly anticipated vision plan, spearheaded by Port Tampa Bay board, staff and project consultants.

“The port is honored to be awarded for its landmark community event to unveil the Channel District vision plan, which was highly anticipated and well attended by the Tampa Bay community. The project is very large and will bring unprecedented stimulus and quality of life to the downtown area, so this award is very appropriate and appreciated,” Paul Anderson, port president and CEO, said.
